Reddit user ethan_kahn submitted an interesting question to fellow fans in the r/StarWars group:
I know what “WE” don’t want to see in Episode 7 but what do “WE” really want see in Ep. 7!?!?
For all of the griping over casting and plot rumors, it has become clear what most Star Wars fans don’t want to see in the sequel trilogy. So what do we want to see? Good question. It seems like from the moment Disney announced the purchase and the development of new movies, besides “less CGI” and “more grit”, many fans are longing for a story featuring Han and Leia’s kids. It’s been said that Abrams parted ways with original screenwriter Michael Arndt because his script was too Solo-based, and JJ wants the story to remain Skywalker-centric.
Scroll through these answers and I encourage you to leave yours in the comments:
A good story, gritty dirty environment. (smokey_sunrise)
The Solo twins (floppyphile)
X-Wing dogfights, Star Destroyers fighting Mon Cal cruisers–space fleet battles and not shitty cuts that show little to no action besides a background of laser exchanges (plokoonismyfave)
More practical effects. They’ve build a 1:1 Millennium Falcon, so we’re on the right track because actors standing in front of a blue screen for the entirety of a film looks and feels stupid. Rule one of special effects: if it isreal it will look real. Tattooine felt real because they went to a fucking desert to shoot it. Hoth felt real because they went to a fucking tundra to shoot it. Endor felt real because they went to the fucking woods. Not to mention the insane sets they constructed. They built a swamp to shoot the Degobah scenes. No CGI crap. (ViciousKnids)
4 words: Fucking. Grand. Admiral. Thrawn. (GodOfThunder44)
One thing I am really hoping for is genuine feeling costuming. The thing that stood out to me the most about Indiana Jones 4 was the horrible costuming. It looked like Harrison Ford was wearing a cheap imitation of the iconic indie outfit. We dont need Luke to be wearing the exact same thing he was in Jedi. (BahktiFace)
I want to see them get creative with force powers. I’m a little bored with force push and telekinesis. Maybe some teleport or image cloning etc. The possibilities are endless. (TheDevilsQi)
Some sort of adequate acknowledgement of the established Expanded Universe. (nitro4450)
THIS:
An aged Sith witch by the name of Ashoka. (dirtknapp)
And my personal favorite:
I need it to open with Boba Fett crawling out of the Sarlacc pit. (jimcarreywannabe)

Pod racing didn’t make the list?!
I know. Thoroughly shocking.
The more child actors the better. Jar Jar has a son and he’s Han’s son’s best friend. Everyone openly carries lightsabers and has either a Jamaican accent or a lisp. The empire secretly cloned Anakin and Padme and all rebel prisoners are forced to watch them repeat every single line from the prequels.
frontrunner for Comment of the Year.
I agree with everything except acknowledgement of the expanded universe. I’ve personally never been a fan of it, especially when it’s connected to characters from the movies.
Wait, I super disagree with expanding what the force can do. Teleporting? Image-cloning? That’s doing way too much.
I would love to see a spin-off series of films starring the Gungans in their own version of The Dukes of Hazzard. Jar Jar is Uncle Jesse, Boss Nass is Boss Hogg, a pair or redneck Gungan cousins driving a bio-mechanical version of the General Lee. The perfect series to take the torch for the entire franchise. I’ll start working on the screenplay.
I love you
Much, much, much less CGI.
Definitely want to see what the old characters are doing now and would prefer the original actors reprise those roles.
A SERIOUS focus on non force using AND non light-saber using characters. I so do not need to sit through another glow-stick rave dance fight. I want to see soldiers slogging it out in blaster fights, people dying in the battles, and a good space fleet battle. Basically, I want to see the :War” in Star Wars.
I know I’ll be pleased when Episode VII comes. I haven’t read any of the EU stuff, so it could be a nice surprise seeing a fresh, new vision.
Cast Chris Christie (Gov. of NJ) as Jabba the Hutt.
I would like for them to link the Starwars Game protagonist as either the sith lord or as in the game a confuse and almighty powerful sith jedi.
