If you’re a fan of AMC’s The Walking Dead or Breaking Bad, you’re aware of the Chris Hardwick-hosted ‘Talking’ shows that follow each.
Talking Dead is a live talk show hosted by comedian and nerd champion Chris Hardwick that follows each new episode of The Walking Dead, featuring cast members and writers, instant reactions and celebrity guests.
Launched as a companion to the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad, as you’d expect, Talking Bad follows the same format.
The ‘Talking’ shows are great for those fans (myself included) who just can’t get enough of the shows themselves and love listening to the reactions of others upon the end of each episode. But what if we applied the “Talking’ formula to other shows, in another era?
In the 80s we had to wait until the next day at school to chat about the latest episodes of our favorite shows. I remember jotting down my favorite lines from Married… with Children on Sunday nights, just so I’d be able to recite them perfectly with my friends the next day.
How great would it have been if there were half hour recap shows that summarized, analyzed and celebrated our favorite 80s shows? You know what I mean- a weekly 30 minute Seaver family retrospective called (you guessed it) ‘Talking Pains’!
What other ‘Talking’ shows would we have watched? We put our resident graphic guy Tank on the case:
What other 80s shows would you have watched in the ‘Talking ___” format?
