I’ll be blunt- if you’ve found yourself on this site you’re most likely a child of the 80s, so you hardly need more reasons to watch the best new show on television.
ABC’s The Goldbergs has settled in as one of the best sitcoms on this year’s schedule, and you can bet your binder full of Garbage Pail Kids (“they’re gonna be worth millions“) that it’s a huge reason ABC is owning Tuesday nights.
In case you’re missing out, or if some episodes are starting to pile up on your DVR to-do list, here are 18 reasons you should be watching ABC’s The Goldbergs every Tuesday night:
Because the writing and acting is magnificent
Because the music is always rad
Because the creator (@adamfgoldberg) is active and engaging on Twitter during and after the show
Love all the Garbage Pail Kids love tonight. Lifetime collector. Those were mine on the show tonight! #GPK4LIFE pic.twitter.com/8m0vy7x4ae

Because there are theme episodes based on fantastic things like The Goonies and the U.S.S. Flagg
Because Pops rules
Because every episode is dedicated to someone or something awesome
Because we’ve all had to make a tough decision at some point
Because you get exclusive Big Tasty music video premieres
Because entire blog posts can be written about the amazing things in Adam’s bedroom
Because the future is in the balance
Because we all stretched the phone cord as far as we could for some privacy
Because we’ve all overdressed for some occasion
Because it’s a family show with a ton of heart (not a lot of those left)
Because they feel like a family that would have lived on your street- you would have been friends with Adam, looked up to (see: feared) Barry, and crushed HARD on Erica
Because it’s the only show where you get Star Wars and a Reno 911! reunion in the same place
Because Haverchuck
Because it feels like home
Because “Bloody Marys for everybody!”
UPDATE: I told you he was active and engaging on Twitter:
Yes, yes, and yes. This show rocks and takes my top spot for TV every week. We need more shows like this!
So true. I’m so glad I jumped on board with this show early on. It’s in a tie with Brooklyn Nine Nine for my favorite new show
Holy BALLS, this post is utterly amazing. I forwarded it to ABC and all the writers!!! Very flattered and thrilled you took the time to write this!!!!
I’m equally flattered and thrilled that you left a comment, Adam. Thanks for checking it out!
This has got to be one of the biggest if not THE biggest post in USF history. Awesome work guys!
The Goldbergs is arguably THE family sitcom of today. Any family of any make up can sit down and enjoy this show together. The majority of sitcoms today are for teens or twenties and up. Finally family TV has returned!
Never heard of it until now… I’m over in the UK so will have to check to see if any channels are showing it.
