Reminder:

In Episode 35: Attack of the Hashtag, we discussed George Lucas’ offer to turn over the Star Wars reigns to a new creator. In that show we had a deep discussion about potential directors, writers and actors, as well as which Expanded Universe story arcs would translate well to film. Check it out!

(There’s also a pretty funny Star Wars opening crawl about the show)

Chris Nolan – No.
Peter Jackson – No.
Joss Whedon – No.
J.J. Abrams – No.
Catherine Hardwick – Are you fucking kidding me?
Guillermo Del Toro – Eeeeh. Maybe.
Alfonso Curon – Yes.
Matthew Vaughn – No, but yes to “gritty.”
James Cameron – YES. Hell yes, even.
Ryan Johnson – No. Anyone that touched Ghost Rider should not be allowed near Star Wars.

My dream director for Star Wars would be Spielberg.

Howie Decker November 1, 2012 at 5:15 pm

That would be super dope. I think I mentioned him later in the pod. One we missed was Brad Bird, which Googs mentioned earlier in the day, partly based on his love of Ghost Protocol.

Thanks for the interactive commentary!

My choice for director? Joe Johnston. He has a Star Wars pedigree and I think he proved himself as a director with Cap and Rocketeer.

Corey Chapman November 5, 2012 at 1:55 pm

I loved Cap AND Rocketeer!

Howie Decker November 5, 2012 at 2:13 pm

that’s a great call. I like it.

Corey Chapman November 5, 2012 at 1:46 pm

There is a rumor out there that a Brad Bird/Damon Lindelof episode 7 partnership might happen. Brad Bird has never disappointed me as director (MI4 was SO GOOD, Incredibles, Iron Giant, Ratatouille, all exceptional)

Lindelof has been shooting down rumors of his involvement since last week, but I could see it happening…

Spielberg would make sense, seeing as he is one of the few directors Lucas completely trusts.

starting to think the smart money is on Brad Bird (to borrow a Googs quote)
