The comic book reboot. A marketing tool utilized by major comic book publishers in an attempt to attract new readers and reinvigorate the existing fan base. Wikipedia defines the comic book reboot as follows: The verb reboot, in media dealing with serial fiction, means to discard much or even all previous continuity in the series and start anew with fresh ideas.

Hashtag!
Since reboots are often used to re-tell origin stories, a quick bit of background for first-timers: our primary way of publicizing and attracting listeners and readers to our site is via Twitter. Per Twitter’s help page- the # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages. In other words, we use hashtags to attract new fans. We want a broad fanbase, so we try to hit a broad range of topics every show and we hashtag them when we Tweet the links to the episodes. Listeners can expect a bunch of random and wildly inappropriate hashtags emerging from each episode. Much like Joey and his difficulty mastering “air quotes”, we know we aren’t using them right, but we’ve gone too far to stop now.
In this episode:
Corey, Howie, Joe & Tank wax poetic on 2011’s strong set of superhero/comic book movies. We take a “coaches’ poll” and through a mathematically complex and intricate grading system, we establish rankings for all 4 movies (Captain America, Green Lantern, Thor, X-Men: First Class). Which film was UnderScoopFIRE’s best superhero movie of 2011? Which female character was our favorite? What villain moved us the most? Listen to find out!
