“Geek out” your fridge or office with these pop culture magnets (and donate to wounded veterans in the process)

in Culture, G.I. Joe

If you’re into 80s cereals, NES game covers, G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters, TMNT, and other vintage stuff (which I know you are), you’ll love Blue Crab Magnets.

Doing a random G.I. Joe search on eBay one day, I came across these magnets featuring the amazing card art that made G.I. Joe packages shine on the shelves.

Once I visited the BlueCrabMagnets store (run by Adam Brown, who has been an absolute pleasure to deal with), I knew I had to share these with you. There’s a clear “child of the 80s” influence in the items available.

The best part: 100% of the proceeds are automatically donated to Fisher House Foundation which is the highest rated charity for wounded veterans. For more info, you can contact Adam at bluecrabmagnets at gmail dot com.

There’s some great cult movie posters (Blood Beach), 80s pinups (Kelly LeBrock, Farrah Fawcett), and short-lived but beloved snacks (Shark Bites, Transformers Ice Cream bars).

“Yeah bitch! Magnets!”

They even have your favorite headlines from The Onion:

Head over to Blue Crab Magnets, check out the awesome selection (some of them will bring back some long gone memories!) and tell Adam that Howie from UnderScoopFire sent ya!

They’ve even got a magnet of the quickly-redacted by Hasbro Rocky Balboa G.I. Joe card art:

Just what I need. More stuff to spend money on. But really for children of the 80s, or those who appear on similar themed podcasts these magnets are incredible. Excellent find.

The nice thing is that they are fairly inexpensive, and I can always justify a couple bucks (even if I shouldn’t spend it) when it’s for a good cause!

These effing rule. Chopping Mall? I’m in.

Brilliant find. How come it doesn’t say proceeds go to Fisher House on eBay? Or am I missing it?

I know right? I knew adding that one to the header image would get some looks.

I’m not sure. I started emailing with Adam when I told him I wanted to do a write up on his magnets. He mentioned today that the $ goes to Fisher. Perhaps it’s a new policy, or it might have been that way all along. He’s an open guy if you contact him via eBay
or Etsy, where he also has a store.

I must cover my fridge with these. The Ecto Cooler one is a must have, but will make me sad everytime I see it, knowing there is none in my fridge

These are awesome. I actually stumbled upon these recently (I was looking for vintage MOTU magnets for my fridge).

Wish I could just go nuts and buy like 30 of them and paste them all over the fridge. So many appeal to me. Definitely the good stuff!

I wish he did MOTU card art magnets. He does take requests though!!
