That Time Dreyfuss Held Up Production of ‘Empty Nest’ Because He Had the Hiccups

The image below is from Empty Nest Online (yes, that’s a thing, let’s be grownups). Apparently the dog who played Dreyfuss had such a bad case of the hiccups one day that it held up production of the show. The hiccups were a “loud, belching sound” – would you expect anything less from Dreyfuss? Dude was a SHOWMAN.

Empty Nest ran from 1988-1995, and I love how 80s this article is: “producers had a cow when Dreyfuss…”.

You could probably have talked me into buying an Empty Nest DVD box set without exerting much effort, but if there were bonus features that included the dog with a bag over its head and Kristy McNichol chasing him with a stuffed cat while “making angry cat noises”, I’d probably buy two.
