The 8 Biggest Pushes in Wrestling History

2. The Ultimate Warrior (1988)

The Ultimate Warrior made his WWF TV debut in late 1987, and his rise to prominence was as rapid as his ring entrance. He crushed opponent after opponent, and less than a year after his debut he beat the Honly Tonk Man for the Intercontinental Title in just 27 seconds.

The Ultimate Warrior went on to captain a team at Survivor Series (back when Survivor Series’ format was still good), and after the “posedown” feud with Rick Rude the WWF let him pin Andre The Giant in a matter of seconds at a bunch of house shows. If crushing Andre The Giant as if he were S.D. Jones doesn’t qualify as a monster push, I don’t know what does. In 1990, Hulk Hogan (the wrestler who embodied the 80s) passed the torch to the one who was to carry the WWF through the 90s.

The list seems highly wwe-centric although the only WCW push that immediately comes to mind is the one you included

I immediately thought of Goldberg and I have also thought that Ryback has been a poor imitation of Goldberg since his repackage.

I’d like to the the “pushes gone wrong” list you teased in the intro!

Forgot how they pushed Sheamus to the moon out of ECW.

I thought this was a WWE article until number 1 … I expected to see Yokozuna at the top spot since he was pushed to kill Hulkamania

anyway
The Sting/Crow Push
The DDP Push
The Booker T push

all come to mind for me

The Hardy Solo Push as well

Good post
