In the past week, nostalgia-holics like myself were treated to some great news from the world of gaming. First, Ubisoft gave us a peek at the Hall of Fame edition of Toy Soldiers: War Chest that will feature two factions based on Masters of the Universe and G.I. Joe characters. And if that wasn’t enough to make your palms sweat, a trailer for the new Activision game Transformers: Devastation also hit the web that showcases G1 Transformers in action.
These two games alone have a great shot at persuading retrogamers to finally make the upgrade to a PS4 or Xbox One console. Plus, their success could also open the door for other classic properties, but which ones? Here are a few video game suggestions that would give us the perfect mix of modern and retro.
GTA: Hazzard County
Think about it. Who’s better at outrunning the cops than Bo and Luke? They were always bribing Boss Hog and Roscoe. All you need is a storyline about the moon shining business going south and the boys resorting to stealing cars…and maybe Daisy working at a night club.
Angry Birds: Silverhawks
Nothing against those birds, but a little metal could go a long way in knocking down those structures. And the best part of the game would be using that screeching sound from the theme song each time you launched.
Rock Band: Jem
Which would you rather do, watch a movie that is Jem in name only or rock out to all the music from the TV show? Yeah, no brainer. Include all the characters (including the Misfits), some custom instruments and a killer soundtrack and you’ve got a game that would revitalize the both the cartoon and the musical video game genre.
Third Earth
Think of The Witcher franchise with 80% less gore/sex/violence and 100% more anthropomorphic cats. If there ever was planet that would be fantastic in an open-world environment (besides maybe Eternia), it would be Third Earth.

Imagine sending Lion-O and the other Thundercats on missions into strange lands with surprise confrontations by Mumm-Ra and the mutants. Not sold? Then just add the Thundertank to the next Twisted Metal installment and I’m good.
Stuntman Ignition: The Fall Guy
The Stuntman franchise is practically begging for Colt Seaver’s GMC pickup. Add some bounty hunter missions and you’ve got a game built for high speed, insane stunts, and massive property destruction.
