5 Reasons Jason Sudeikis Leaving SNL would be a Huge Deal

Last week, Saturday Night Live said goodbye to Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis. Wiig being the star of so many recurring skits, her departure will surely be felt. Andy Samberg was part of the creative team behind the SNL Digital Shorts, so his loss will certainly be notable as well, but losing Jason Sudeikis will absolutely be as big a blow to the cast as Wiig or Samberg.

Quick aside: did you know Jason Sudeikis’ uncle is George Wendt? Norm! These are the tidbits you uncover when researching for a post. And yes, he’s still dating Olivia Wilde.

Here are five reasons you will miss Jason Sudeikis more than you think:

The “scared straight” skits are a great showcase for Kenan Thompson, but Sudeikis as the cop (Officer Sikorsky) trying to facilitate the fragile proceedings was the highlight of these bits. He always seemed to go out of his way in these skits to make the three “youths” crack up.

Pete Twinkle and Greg Stink were one of the best SNL duos since Wayne and Garth. When Will Forte left, there was still a chance to run this skit anytime Forte showed up as a cameo or host; but with both of them gone, the stars would have to align just right to ever see this skit again.

The red track suit dancing guy (Vance) in What’s Up With That? – just watch him dance.

Sit down Judith! (it starts around 2:08 and I’m pretty sure he ad libs the last one)

Honorable mention:

Joe Biden

One of the Two A-Holes

Mitt Romney

DJ SuperSoak

The Devil on Weekend Update

One half of Jon Bovi (the Bon Jovi opposite band)

I was hoping the A-holes would at least make one more appearance before they left SNL. It’s going to be rough losing all three of them but at least Hader is still there.

Yeah I’m surprised with Wiig AND Sudeikis leaving that they didn’t run that skit out one more time. I can’t remember the last time they did it – was it all the way back to the Jeremy Piven episode? Great skit, though. Love when they referenced Muppet Babies.

Sudeikis was by far the best male SNL actor of the past 3 years.

Going to miss him BIG TIME. The last few years he would go entire shows making but one or two appearances in a sketch, but they were always home runs. As much as I enjoyed Wiig’s farewell “dance” I am surprised SNL didnt honor Sudeikis and Samberg.

Well, luckily for EVERYONE, Jason didn’t leave.

Absolutely! Although I think Hader has taken over as my favorite player as of this season. He’s so genuinely funny. I’ll always love Sudeikis though.
