The Alley Viper you see above is just one of many G.I. Joe and Cobra characters represented in the Cobra 1st Legion.
A description of the group from their website:
The Cobra 1st Legion is a G.I. Joe themed Cosplay / Charity Organization. We attend comic book conventions dressed as characters from the G.I. Joe comic book with self-made costumes.
They had a contingent at the most recent Joe Con in Indianapolis, and they do a lot of charity work as well:
We do charity projects like Toy Drives for the Children’s Hospital of Oakland, sending books to troops with Operation Paperback, food drives for the Alameda County Community Food Bank and more. Most of our charity projects are open to the public. If you think this looks like fun and you think you have what it takes to put together a costume and join in on the party, contact us and Join The LEGION!
The Legion is currently conducting a book drive for Operation Paperback to send books to troops and have an upcoming food drive for Open Heart Kitchen on Free Comic Book Day in Pleasanton, CA at Heroes and Villians. They’ll be at Big Wow! ComicFest in San Jose on May 18.
The costumes their members have assembled are amazing. THESE are the iconic looks that should appear in a G.I. Joe live-action film. I posted a list recently on Topless Robot called 10 G.I. Joe Character Designs that Will Never Make it into a Live-Action Film – and don’t get me wrong, I am sad that none of the iconic Joe visual designs will ever make it into a movie. Nowadays everything has to be black leather and Kevlar. Boring.
These are the Joes and Cobras we’re looking for! Check out more of the stunning costumes below and check out Cobra 1st Legion’s site for MUCH more!

UPDATE: Leave it to our resident Alley Viper nut to find this on eBay, in case you were interested in becoming an Alley Viper yourself.
