The success of Marvel Snap, the popular card-based mobile game that has taken the gaming world by storm, has proven that card games and beloved franchises make a winning combination. From Star Wars to Masters of the Universe, there are many franchises that would make great card-based mobile games, and we’ve rounded up 9 of the most epic ones.
Harry Potter
Imagine collecting and battling with cards featuring characters, spells, and creatures from the wizarding world. This game could have endless possibilities, from duels at Hogwarts to battles against dark wizards.
Star Wars
A Star Wars-themed card game could feature iconic characters like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Yoda, along with spaceships, weapons, and force powers. This seems like one of the more inevitable knock offs we should assume is coming soon.
The Lord of the Rings
From hobbits to wizards, this game would allow players to collect and battle with cards featuring characters and creatures from Middle Earth.
DC Comics
With a wealth of heroes and villains to choose from, a DC Comics-themed card game could feature characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Joker, along with their iconic weapons and abilities. Personally I’d max out my Peacemaker and Vigilante cards first.
Masters of the Universe
This is my personal favorite. Imagine slapping a 12-power Beast Man down on turn 5 because your turn 4 Evil-Lyn reduced the cost of all of Skeletor’s henchmen!! I’d play the fabulous secret powers out of that game.
G.I. Joe
My second favorite, maybe tied for first. He-Man and GI Joe will always be my 1 and 1A properties. Picture a Scarlett/Snake Eyes combo like Wongers and Black Panther racking up the big points on G.I. Joe: Snap!
Game of Thrones
A card-based mobile game set in Westeros could feature characters like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and Tyrion Lannister, along with locations and events from the Seven Kingdoms. I assume the ending would suck, but that’s on brand!
The Walking Dead
A game based on the popular zombie franchise could feature characters like Rick Grimes, Michonne, and Daryl Dixon, along with weapons and events from the post-apocalyptic world. Keep an eye out for the special event CORAL in cowboy hat variant.
Pokemon
With over 800 species of Pokemon to choose from, a Pokemon-themed card game could allow players to collect and battle with their favorite creatures. Hey, what a novel idea – a Pokemon CARD game?? Who would have thought?!
These are just a few examples of franchises that would make great card-based mobile games like Marvel Snap. With the right combination of beloved characters and exciting gameplay, these games have the potential to become just as popular as their superhero counterpart.
