Happy April 20th!
We commemorate today by bringing you a list of the… a list of.. I lost my train of thought. Hang on. Oh! Some of the best marijuana moments in pop culture history. I am in no way claiming that these are the five best, because that would require more work and research than I’m willing to invest.
The Price is Right 420 Guy
Evan Goding got his rare moment to shine on national television, and he took full advantage. Anyone who purposely bids errantly to prove a point or make a joke is A-OK in my book.
Turtle & Bob Saget fire it up on Entourage
Like many good shows, Entourage stumbled a bit after the first few seasons and limped to the finish line. Nevertheless, it had its moments, and one I will never forget was Ari Gold’s sarcastic plea to one of Vincent’s ne’er do well clingers: “Smoke more weed Turtle, seriously- smoke more weed.”
This scene with Bob Saget is one of the highlights of the show’s 8 seasons.
1992’s The Chronic
Hard to classify an album as a ‘moment’, but this list would would be lacking without mention of one of the greatest weed homages of all time. Not only was the title and the album cover iconic, but it largely introduced the world to Snoop Dogg, the Master of Marijuana himself. The Chronic remains the stand out in an era that featured fellow pot tributes such as Cypress Hill’s 1993 album Black Sunday.
Scarface Quits his Job – Half Baked
One of the best walk offs in movie history.
Red Gets High – That 70s Show
Over its 8 seasons, a staple of That 70s Show was the smoking circle – a recurring scene in which the core group of kids sat in Eric Forman’s basement in a smoke-filled circle and traded witty barbs, retorts, and spaced out references. As great as those scenes were, none of them topped Red Forman’s pot brownie-induced circle cameo.
All of Half Baked was fucking hilarious. The horse scene, Nasty Nate, The Guy on the Couch, Sampson Simpson, Sir Smoke-A-Lot…. aw man, you guys will have to do a Half Baked podcast someday.
agreed. Thanks for reading Classick!
I know there’s other drug references to it, but I’d like to put up Mr. Show’s The Altered State Of Druggachusetts as an honorable mention.. just because of the CanniBus.
Where’s Cheech & Chong? They’re stoner hall-of-famers. 😛
