About two weeks ago we introduced our Next Big Reboot tournament bracket, and shared our “Selection Show” process on episode #121 of the podcast.
The theme that the entire tournament is predicated on is the fact that EVERYTHING we’ve ever loved has been rebooted in the last decade. As we should have expected, “Big Reboot” decided NOT to take a vacation and let us play in peace, but instead they announced plans for California Raisins, X-Files, AND Fraggle Rock reboots during the first leg of our bracket.
Luckily (and mysteriously?) the Raisins were left out of our tournament (despite being a big part of my childhood), but Fraggle Rock was smack in the middle of a heated Sweet Sixteen matchup with The Silverhawks when news of their Joseph Gordon-Levitt-produced feature broke. Conundrum!
Why does this news pose a problem? Because as we stated in the intro, if there’s real talk of a reboot, or plans are in the works, it’s not eligible. This was what disqualified Police Academy. Due to the announcement, Fraggle Rock is disqualified, and The Silverhawks advance.
