Various sites are reporting that Fast 6 star Gal Gadot has been cast in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel, which means Zack Snyder now has control of the film versions of DC Comics’ “big three”.
If you’re a Snyder fan, you may be fine with this, but if you aren’t this news might scare you a bit. Imagine if a divisive big-budget director had control of multiple franchises that shaped your childhood (Transformers and TMNT fans don’t have think too hard to imagine this scenario). Snyder not only has control of Superman and Batman, but he gets to introduce Wonder Woman to the world via the big screen. If Diana’s appearance in the Superman vs. Batman film spawns her own feature film, it will have to be based on the Wonder Woman Zack Snyder introduces. I for one am comfortable with this, but I know many are not.
I’m not the only one who’s a bit sad that this lady didn’t come away with the part, but maybe Marvel will wise up and feature her character more prominently going forward.
