Allright kiddies, Uncle Tanker is in the home stretch.

Will Hurricane Sandy stop me from getting to 31? Check back and see, but for now- here is the next few.

We’re going to do things a little differently in this edition, as I’ll be including a trailer with some of the entries, and some of the movie commentary will be paired with other movies in the franchise.

Without further a spew:

Movies #18 & 19 – A Nightmare on Elm Street / A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5: The Dream Child

See this photo?

This pretty much summarizes my love for the series. I am a Fred Head and proud of it. Part One still freaks me out a bit. Easily one of the scariest movies I have seen. And Part Five I believe to be very underrated. It’s a nice conclusion to the Kristin/Alice storyline and some of the effects and dream sequences are top notch. Double Treats for Halloweeners.

Movies # 20 & 21 – Frankenstein/The Bride of Frankenstein

In my personal pantheon the classic Universal Monsters are absent, that being said I still love and respect everything that they stand for. I just love the era, I love the merchandise. They are the epitome of Halloween and trick or treating nostalgia. The movies are well calculated and well made. It’s just amazing how they were able to pull off some of this stuff back then. In this age they didn’t have CGI to rely on, it was creativity and practicality. Seeing these two back to back and on the big screen was an experience I will never forget. Treats x 2.

Movies # 22 & 23 – Blade/Blade II

Vampires are my favorite genre, and nothing gets my jollies more than a good ol’ Vampire Hunter. Of course, these can be construed as action films as well. Lots of fight scenes and swords play highlight a lot of the action scenes here. And Wesley Snipes is pretty bad ass as Blade. Part 2 is one of my favorite horror films of all time. It’s the Aliens of vampire hunter movies. Or something like that. 2 more blood soaked treats.

Movie #24 – The Lost Boys

Speaking of vampires and my all-time favorite horror movies, The Lost Boys is something I saw in theaters at the age of 11 with my dad. It was a special screening open to the public and only like 5 other people were there for it, and it has stuck with me ever since.

Children protagonist characters in horror films always appealed to me back then, for obvious reasons. This movie made we want to be a vampire hunter as a kid. So much so that I kept a vial of holy water on my persons for a time. Yikes! Can’t believe I brought out that nugget of Tanskipedia. Goes without saying…Treat.

Movie #25 – Scream

When I first saw this film I gave it a big old Trick. It was a horrible experience watching it with all of the douche bags in the theater hooting and wooting it up. I honestly didn’t think the comedy mix worked either, and I found  Matthew Lillard’s character grating and stupid.

Fast forward many years later and this is also a film that made my all time favorite horror films list. It is a great film to see with the right people. I just saw this at a late night screening and it still holds up. Wes Craven was a modern day master of suspense. He has lacked his edge as of late but I actually dug Scream 4. Time will tell if he gets his mojo back, either way I will be there with some jiffy pop and a soda in tow. Oh and some treats too!
