My love affair with the short-lived TV show Firefly and feature length film Serenity brought me into a relationship with the show Castle. Nathan Fillion, who starred in the aforementioned, is what got me interested in the show. Then I was introduced to Stana Katic and I was hooked.
My wife and I have been watching the show religiously for four seasons now. Fillion’s wit and sarcasm matched with Katic’s beauty and grit is what really makes the show work. There was a big ado last season when the two had their first kiss, after almost 3 seasons of obvious attraction. We (the viewers) were all kind of disappointed when the kiss happened during an undercover operation to “fool the bad guys.” Nonetheless, Castle’s reaction to finally landing one on Det. Kate Beckett was priceless, like he just saw Bigfoot in Central Park.
The more you watch the show, the more you put yourself in Castle’s shoes and strive toward taking the prize of Kate Beckett. But even if you have never watched the show, you can see why she is revered. Katic is a native of Canada, but moved to the US with her family at a young age. Her parents were immigrants from Yugoslavia and besides English, can speak Croatian, Serbian, Slovene, French and Italian. After graduating high school in 1996, she enrolled at Goodman School of Drama in Chicago.
She started out her acting career with mainly guest appearances on television dramas, which included Alias, The Shield, ER, and Heroes. She has some movie credits under her belt as well including supporting roles in Feast of Love, Quantum of Solace, the Spirit, and The Double. She also starred in the 2008 action film Stiletto and used her voice talent for the Batman: Arkham City video game.
Look for Stana on Monday nights on ABC’s Castle and also in the upcoming 2012 film Big Sur.
