When I wake up in the morning
The alarm gives out a warning
I don’t think I ever make it on time
It was just a matter of time before a site dedicated to Children of the 80s recorded a podcast about OUR coming of age teen sitcom, Saved By The Bell!
By the time I grab my books
And I give myself a look
I’m at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by
It’s alright ‘coz I’m saved by the bell
Although Corey & Tank are on the podcast, this is the Joe Zicari Show! JZ takes over the hosting duties and takes us on a trip down memory lane, as we discuss Zack, Kelly, Slater, Screech, and the rest of the Bayside kids. Favorite episodes, best characters, things about the show we would like to forget!
Joe really loves Zack Morris
The guys talk about their Super Bowl predictions, have some interesting Scoops of the Week, and debut a new intro for Tweet of the Week! And wait until you meet Joe’s alter ego! He is crazier than Jessie Spano on caffeine pills!
If the teacher pops a test
I know I’m in a mess
And my dog ate all my homework last night
Right alone in my chair
She won’t know that I’m there
If I can hand it in tomorrow it will be alright
It’s alright ‘coz I’m saved by the bell

Great episode! It’s about time the pioneer of TNBC got the credit it’s due.
I would’ve chosen Jessie, even back then. I kinda like bitches. Plus, we look back on TAT thinking of her as she is now. I never understood how she was “attractive” back then. She needed a sandwich. I guess she was hungry ’cause she had those 7 brothers and sister or whatever. And Lisa was just annoying as fuck. Never liked a thing about her. But yeah, Stacey Carosi wins.
Technically, Diamond wasn’t in EVERY episode of every series, as he was on The College Years during the first season of The New Class. Once TCY was cancelled, then he went over to TNC as an “internship”. Eventually, they just completely phase out the college thing and just act like he’s Asst Principal. And Belding WAS in the Ms Bliss episodes, contrary to what someone said. Just as Zach appeared in TNC when they were about to tear down The Max. So, basically, there’s no right answer to the question as it was asked. I’m live commenting, so I’ll probably be back…
thanks for listening and the feedback, Will! I believe Joe got these questions/answers from some officially licensed trivia game. (Who am I kidding, he could have made them up for all I know)
Stand corrected, should have actually said, who was the only character to be considered a series regular in all incarnations of SBTB.
You needed a consummate professional game show host like Dick Decker on there
I’m in the minority here but I HATED THAT DAMN SHOW. But because it’s you guys, I’ll listen.
that’s dedication
and you don’t like ‘Friends’? No more Toy Karma.
Friends was unrealistic and too damn much “Friendzone” crap. SBTB kids came off snotty plus SBTB killed Saturday morning cartoons in my eyes.
Lamar is salty today!
Excuse me while I go yell at some kids on my yard.
Lets do a FRIENDS show and dedicate it to Lamar!!!!
DONE. And that will at long last give us our excuse to have original Scooper Jennifer Edson on as a guest. She was listening to our podcast while giving birth, that’s gotta be worth a guest appearance 50 eps later!
I was shocked you guys didn’t get into the disappearance of Max (sure, Jeff comes along, but who owns that place after Season 1?) as well as the questionable status of the Morris’ marriage.
In the Miss Bliss episodes, Zach’s parents are divorced, and it seems like Miss Bliss might hook up with him. When SBTB proper starts, his parents are together again. Later in the show, he’s always “away on business” and when he is around, the marriage seems kinda loveless. I never trusted Mr. Morris, especially when they let that homeless girl and her dad stay with them. WHAT DID YOU DO TO THAT GIRL, MR MORRIS?!!!
It all just lends more credibility to the “Saved by the Bell was all Zack’s dream” theory: http://www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/why-saved-by-bell-all-dream-conspiracy-theory/
“Joe introduces a new character…” That no where near does credit to what was unleashed on this episode. Odelay!
They really did a good job. Glad I wasn’t on there to muck it up! Viva Senor Innuendo!!
I think we are going to have to get Senior Innuendo to host more shows.
Great ep!
While I LOVED SBTB at the time, I gotta agree with Lamar here in the hindsight of things. It DID hurt the Saturday morning cartoons we had going on and spawned a bunch of tween/teen live action shows for kids.
I have great memories of walking home from school with my one friend who lived right by that particular school. He had a tv in his garage and we definitely watched SBTB all the time while trading cards or what have you at the table. Good times.
I can’t watch SBTB anymore though. It’s been on tv for the past 25 years in a row and NEVER took a break. TBS had it on in the morning at the same time slot for like 20 years in a row. (I think Married with Children has that time slot now). I’ve seen every episode and it’s so hard to sit through now. I can still watch a lot of shit like Full House and ALF (#TannerFamiles) with such no problem, but SBTB is a problem because they majorly OD’d on it.
Good Morning Miss Bliss was ok. SBTB was the real deal at the time. College years had a few tolerable episodes. The New Class was fucking terrible. It’d be hard to sit through any of them now unless I’m all kinds of drunk and high and have someone to live comment along with. lol
OH and Kelly Kapowski all day. No contest, no question. She was THEE hottest chick of the early 90s for several years there. At least in my mind and among most of my group of friends.
As always, great podcast! You guys never cease to entertain while bringing the laughs and generating the wonderful memories of years past.
Great show, guys!!
Two words… Stacy Carosi!

Eastwood style!
