Where Are They Now? Step By Step’s Angela Watson

in Television, Where are they now?

During the 25th Anniversary TGIF Fantasy Draft on episode #107 of our podcast, the cast of Step by Step was discussed, and one of the biggest surprises was the number of Step characters that were selected in the draft.

One of the only Step By Steppers not make a squad was Carol’s dim-witted middle child, Karen Foster, played by Angela Watson. It got me thinking: of the female stars of Step By Step, we know where Staci Keanan is and Christine Lakin is busy with theatre, voice work, web series and part-time ninja work.

So where did the other sister go?

Watson was born in Illinois, then raised in Florida and Texas before finally settling down in Southern California.  It was there that she landed a guest spot on Davis Rules, a short-lived ABC sitcom starring Dennis Quaid and Jonathan Winters. Soon after, she was cast on ABC’s Step By Step where she spent seven seasons opposite Patrick Duffy, Suzanne Somers and crew.

Not long after the TGIF hit show wrapped, she learned that her parents had squandered nearly $2.5 million of her earnings over a ten year period. She successfully sued them and was reimbursed her money and property, and become an advocate of child actors.

In 2000, Watson started C.A.S.T. (Child Actors Supporting Themselves), a non-profit organization that helps coordinate attorneys and accountants for child performers.

Most of Watson’s time has been spent working for CAST, so acting has taken a back seat. She only has two credits listed on IMDB since Step By Step went off the air, with the last one being in 2007.
