Take this with the same obligatory grain of salt that accompanies every rumor nowadays, but Film Divider is reporting that the Crimson Twins Tomax and Xamot will be featured in the third G.I. Joe film, and to also expect an appearance by the leader of M.A.S.K., Matt Trakker.

We have no idea how they got their info, but they seem convinced, so there’s that. If anyone else has anymore info about a potential G.I. Joe-M.A.S.K. crossover on the big screen let us know.

The report goes something like this: Film Divider understands that Tomax and Xamot will be featured heavily in the third G.I. Joe movie. They even go on to fantasy cast Sam Rockwell as playing the dual role- this bit we can confirm as merely speculation, but the rest of their report sure does read as something they have on good authority.

Tomax and Xamot have been atop G.I. Joe fans’ collective wish list of characters we’ve wanted to see make the jump to the big screen, along with Shipwreck and the Dreadnoks, and there’s even been talk of a G.I. Joe/Transformers team-up in the next Transformers film, but this M.A.S.K. crossover talk is taking Hasbro property synergy to the next level. There is precedent, as Matt Trakker was introduced into the G.I. Joe universe as Agent Trakker in the form of an action figure in 2008, but he has yet to appear in any other form of Joe media.

I love the idea of M.A.S.K. agents as independent contractors, which is mentioned in the Film Divider piece. If Trakker’s appearance is indeed planned, you’d have to imagine Cobra will team up with Miles Mayhem, which, if done successfully, could trigger a M.A.S.K. spinoff film franchise. Dare to dream, fellow children of the 80s.
