He-Man and She-Ra Confuse Pat Sajak in the 1985 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Courtesy of our friend and resident He-Man spotter @Count_Marzo, let’s give thanks for this clip from the 1985 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It features a Masters of the Universe float, which includes Castle Grayskull and the Crystal Castle (which Pat Sajak calls “Crystal Palace” – also the name of a nice family restaurant by the airport my dad used to take us to).

I swear when the “By the power of Grayskull” voiceover audio is piped in, at first I thought it was Pat Sajak’s voice off camera. THAT would have been a moment- Pat Sajak as He-man! Although Vanna White as She-Ra would’ve worked well.

I’m also certain that Hordak was terribly hungover. He doesn’t look well around the 1:24 mark.

Check out the polite round of applause that the parade goers give for the Eternian ass-stomping they just saw (so genuine, so confused), and then check out this 1987 Marvel Comics parade float, because there’s no way you’re doing actual work today.

Well that was different. Just another reason I love the 80’s.

I love how Pat says “Well, we have an item coming up that’s…umm…a little bit scary actually…”

I totally remember that float! I also remember how it made me hope for floats from my other favorite toys in every Macy’s Parade since.
